Teacher training workshops
Read about the visit
Teachers, whether rural or urban, are often not well equipped to teach science. It is a general experience that the teachers continue to adopt the same teaching methods/techniques for years together and therefore some refresher course becomes necessary for them to effectively teach science for better.
With a view to raise the standards of science teaching in rural schools, Vidnyanvahini conducts three to four teacher training workshops every year. The subjects covered include atomic structure, radioactivity, chemical bonds, periodic table, electricity, light etc. Some of the sessions cover subjects found relatively difficult by teachers to tackle. Others focus on ways of illustrating a scientific principle using experiments. Teachers are also exposed to e-learning using audio visual material like PowerPoint presentations.
